DTR & Migraines

Could Your Oral Health Be The Reason

Behind Your Headaches?

Why go to a dentist for head pain? If the timing and force of your bite is out of alignment, the muscles controlling your jaw become tired and overworked. These fatigued muscles can cause radiating jaw pain, chronic headaches and neck tension. Disclusion Time Reduction(DTR) is a non-invasive therapy involving minuscule adjustments to the biting surfaces of the teeth, by removing small amounts of tooth enamel and adding tooth colored filling to balance out the bite. This allows the muscles in the face to relax, alleviating symptoms and eliminating pain, tension and headaches.

Signs You May Have A Bite Discrepancy

You may be suffering from bite issues if you are experiencing any of the following.

  • Unable to chew gum for more than 5 minutes
  • Pain & stiffness while chewing
  • Extreme teeth wear
  • Excessive mouth breathing
  • Failure to swish cold water due to sensitive teeth
  • Popping or clicking jaw joint
  • Facial pain, even when the jaw is not moving
  • Speech problems

The Impact On Your Body

A misaligned bite can cause a wide range of health problems in an otherwise healthy person.

  • Migraine Headaches
  • Tooth Sensitivity
  • Chronic Facial Pain
  • Sore Chewing Muscles
  • Dizziness
  • Jaw Pain
  • Ear Aches
  • Neck & Shoulder Pain

DTR Therapy Procedure

The T-scan device will provide a bite force analysis to measure the percentage of force between opposing teeth on a tooth by tooth basis. It will calculate the timing, balance and impact between teeth while chewing. Computer guided technology aids in the removal of small amounts of the tooth structure and shows where the uneven pressure is located to show where the tooth needs to be built up. Muscle activity is also monitored during the process and as the force and balance even out, the muscles will start showing signs of relaxation, often time relieving the clients pain before they even step foot out of the office. It will usually take 4 to 6 visits to complete the therapy in over a 4 to 6 week period.

The DTR therapy requires zero surgery, prescription medication or recovery time.
